Future employees of the new Gloster Forest Products automated sawmill are undergoing classroom instruction and immersive training with advanced robotic equipment, which includes MSU's CAVS-Extension Engineers and Southwest Mississippi Community College's Workforce Training Center. These students will participate in three weekly sessions at the Wilkinson County Industrial Complex building near Woodville, MS, to immerse themselves in hands-on training aimed at mastering essential skills and knowledge crucial for success in the modernized automated lumber conversion facility. This comprehensive training is designed to enhance safety awareness and equip participants with the expertise necessary for a seamless and efficient commencement of operations. CAVS-E engineers focused on teaching Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), providing an introduction of Industry 4.0 topic areas and demonstrating collaborative robots, autonomous mobile robots, and other i4.0 equipment to develop a basic understanding for advanced automation to support the environment at the new mill in Gloster.
