On September 22, 2016, hundreds of students and their teachers participated in Pre-Admission College Day, hosted by MSU's CAVS Extension in Canton. Presenters included representatives from Holmes and Hinds Community Colleges, Mississippi State National Guard, and Sivad, Inc. For over ten years, the CAVS Extension's Student Technology Exchange Program (STEP), led by Victor Branch, has helped prepare students for high technology careers related to Robotics, Communications and Manufacturing and has developed high school teachers in these technologies to enhance their ability to support the educational aspects of these initiatives.
This outreach program, led by MSU CAVS Extension in partnership with MS Department of Education, serves six Mississippi school districts and hundreds of students who are preparing for future careers in technology and manufacturing in Mississippi and beyond. The program includes knowledge and skills development through a FANUC Robotics Certification program and Career Readiness Certification.
